Who dares to damage the portrait of the Queen?

A commoner sprayed paint a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the walls of Westminster Abbey on Thursday.

According to Reuters, the picture painted by Ralph Heimans Australian-born artist based in London and was set to mark the 60th anniversary of the coronation of the Queen.

A spokesman for Abbey said in a statement: "Until we can repair the damage, it will not be possible, unfortunately, to expose the table in the public eye."

London police confirmed that the security services had arrested a suspect 41 years on the scene and could answer a criminal charge. He was taken to the police station for interrogation.

Fortunately, we're in 2013. Otherwise, the poor would have quickly been guillotined!
